The Story
SVE didn’t start with a plan to work in the trails industry. But in 2023, on a flight to a bike race while listening to a trails podcast, we realized that our technical expertise combined with real riding experience was a niche worth pursuing. After a few emails to trail contractors, the rest is history. Now, half of our workload is traditional civil site development, and the other half is modern trail design and bike parks.
For both trails and more classic improvement projects, we look at engineering plans differently than traditional firms: flexibility in the field is always a good thing, and over-detailed, bloated plan sets are overrated. Don’t know if you need an engineer? We are happy to take a look and stay out of it if not required. Our goal is to be a streamlined resource that bridges the gap between builders, riders, traditional land development clients, and reviewing agencies.
Sierra vista is Spanish for "mountain view", and is a nod to the West Coast ranges where we work and play. With backgrounds spanning road touring, multi-day enduro racing, volunteer dig days, mountain bike guiding in the Tahoe Basin, and navigating trails as parents with kids and dogs - SVE provides designs from versatile users’ perspectives. When not at a desk drafting, the team is very likely on trail or pulling kids around town in a bike trailer.
